Co-founder
Kris Schumacher

Kris is the driving force behind Nextdoorganics’ innovative business model and helps us realize our goal of being a sustainable and ethical triple bottom line company.

He spent his childhood on a sustainable farm in Rhode Island and is devoted to finding market based solutions to important problems.

Aside from being a co-founder and CFO of Nextdoorganics, Kris is a managing team member of SandCrate.com, and has worked in a number of roles across a wide variety of industries.

He is an expert in market pricing and the financial management of complicated distribution channels.

Co-founder
Josh Cook

Josh helped found Nextdoorganics in 2011 and spent its first season on a rural farm outside Providence, RI. He now helps with strategic planning, design & technology, and operations logistics.

He WWOOFed on three farms in Europe and helped start a school garden at a democratic school in rural West Virginia, the state he is from. He previously worked at the Alternative Education Resource Organization.

He is also the co-founder of Sangha.is, a new online platform to facilitate the creation of residencies in learning communities around the world.

He graduated with a major in Culture & Politics from Georgetown University and earned a master’s in the Anthropology of Learning and Cognition from the London School of Economics.

Lead Community Chef
Chrissy Michaels

Chrissy is a Partner at Nextdoorganics and our Lead Community Chef.

Aside from whipping up amazing fresh items for our CSA and sharing cooking tips and recipe ideas with CSA members, she is the founder of non-profit Chrissy’s Cooking Club which promotes from-scratch cooking using local ingredients from the New York region.

Chrissy’s Cooking Club is based in Bushwick, Brooklyn and facilitates its members’ exploration of everything about food, from how it’s grown and produced, to some of the best dishes coming out from local chefs, plus tons of cooking in-between.

Ingredients for Chrissy’s Cooking Club courses are sourced from Nextdoorganics as well as farmers at the Bushwick Farmers Market, the Bushwick CSA, and Boswyck Farms.
