How to scale Nextdoorganics
[Updated over time as we compile components to our plan to scale.]
We are pivoting our business model to make the greatest impact on the small-scale food system. Invest $100 in our equity crowdfunding campaign and let’s see this vision through.
Local ownership
The key to scale is local ownership. We are transitioning control of our Brooklyn Hub to the newly formed worker-owned coop there. That team already has plans underway to have the greatest community impact possible from that location.
This step should be accomplished this Summer.
Build multi-site network
Nextdoorganics will begin to scale the model out. This campaign has already stirred up interest from people experienced with sustainable food and agriculture who want to be a part of this Nextdoorganics network of food hubs.
Across the country, across the world even, there are many existing small-scale food businesses who are looking to be a part of this movement to support their local food economy.
Together, we can leverage existing infrastructure within the food system, support local food wherever it is, make it easier than going to the grocery store, and support a farmer-forward sourcing and payment system.
We should be ready to operate additional independent nodes within our network in NYC this Fall.

Target List
We have a growing list of warm targets for future partners within our Nextdoorganics network. We will develop a partnership funnel that helps guide in these leads and analyze the assets, potential, and feasibility of each new node in the network. -
Transferable Membership
Our membership will be able to choose where they receive their orders and new food hubs can serve different size or overlapping geographies. We will be offering an initial member base for new food hubs as well as guidance around our ‘farmer-forward’ sourcing methodology. All it should take to start a new food hub is an online sourcing account with Nextdoorganics and a place to pack and distribute orders. -
What is a sustainable business model?
In Brooklyn and elsewhere, a sustainable business partner for Nextdoorganics food hubs is:- breaking even or profitable - like an existing food establishment, farmer, or food processor
- locally-owned and operated - small food businesses; worker-owned coops; any food processing kitchen
- wanting to plug into the local food system - organic practices; hydroponic farming; foraging

Guide to Opening a Good Food Hub
Nextdoorganics, Inc. founders will condense the essential lessons we’ve learned over the first 5 years of operations to create a “Guide to Opening a Good Food Hub”.

Thought Leadership for Good Food Systems
We’ll be working with our advisors — some of the brightest minds working on solving the problems of the industrial food system — to create opportunities to share what we know and elevate sustainable food voices at events, online presentations, panels, and conferences.
New online portal
Nextdoorganics customers are a) our members and b) the food hubs in our network. Our members come looking for an easy connection to their local food system. Food hubs come looking to utilize existing food infrastructure and our sourcing network to fulfill member orders.
We are working with our advisors to build the first iteration of this technology by this Winter.
This plan to scale Nextdoorganics has been brewing for a long time and is something we believe in. Come on this ride with us and invest in Nextdoorganics. You’ll have a chance to share in the potential upside of your buy-in: stronger community, cleaner planet, and a return on your investment.
Thank you so much for your support,
